A review of all the authorities on the Law of Attraction will reveal that for the Law of Attraction to produce the results you want, you must gain mastery of your thoughts.
In his book, As a Man Thinketh, James Allen said that a person’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild. If no useful seeds are planted, it will grow weeds.
Being Aware of Your Conscious and Subconscious Thoughts
The key to causing the Law of Attraction to produce the results you want is to be constantly aware of your thoughts. If your thoughts are not in alignment with what you want to create or generate, it’s like you have violated or broken the Law, and so the Law will not provide what you want.
Even if you think that your thoughts are in alignment with what you want, and that you are taking actions consistent with your desires, you may nevertheless subconsciously be sabotaging your quest to fulfill on your desires because of deep-rooted negative or limiting beliefs that have not been distinguished.
For example, if as a result of programming in childhood, you developed negative associations about money, unless and until you distinguish what that negative programming is, no matter how hard you try to cause the Law of Attraction to give you what you want, it won’t, because your entire being is not in alignment with you having what you want.
Similarly, if you’ve been in a relationship that didn’t work out, although you say you want to create the relationship of your dreams, past hurts, disappointments and concerns could be keeping you from meeting your soul mate.
If you have negative thoughts that you don’t eliminate fast, or if you allow yourself to entertain thoughts of fear, doubt, anxiety or concern, it’s like you’re on an open highway with no traffic driving to your destination and you’ve put your foot on the brake or haven’t released the handbrake, or you’ve taken a wrong exit.
When you look back on your life at the times you’ve achieved a goal, and think back to the way you were thinking prior to the achievement of that goal, you’ll realize that you achieved that goal because your thoughts were in alignment with the achievement of that goal and no subconscious programming was preventing you from achieving that goal.
Congruency and Alignment
For the Law of Attraction to work, your thoughts, feelings, words and actions must all be congruent and in alignment.
Again, if we take the example of people who say they want to create the relationship of their dreams, if their home environment is cluttered and disorderly, it would be necessary first for them to create the home environment that is conducive to producing a loving and fulfilling relationship – otherwise the Law of Attraction will not do its magic. It will be like it is caught in a traffic jam, and that there is too much in the way that is preventing it from arriving at its destination.
Affirmations and Visualization
While you’re likely to think negative thoughts by default, the subconscious mind can think only one thought at a time, and so it is therefore recommended that you develop the practice of repeating affirmations to yourself as often as possible and visualize the outcome you want, as if it’s a memory, frequently, vividly, intensely, and for long periods at a time.
In addition, the moment you catch yourself thinking a negative or disempowering thought, replace it immediately with an affirmation, belief or visualization that the Law of Attraction is in the process of providing you with what you want.
Law of Attraction Tips
Here are some additional tips to derive the most benefit from the Law of Attraction:
• Write down your goals on 3 X 5 index cards and refer to them often.
• Create a vision board with images of what you want to create for your life.
• Keep in view symbols, mementos, badges, books and photographs that motivate you – for example, a mini Statue of Liberty, that engenders a feeling of accomplishment upon the realization of a dream.
• Listen to songs that encourage you to have faith and stay focused to follow through on what you are causing for your life.
• Keep a file full of magazine articles about people who inspire you, and review the articles frequently.
The more you do to remind your subconscious mind that you have an intense burning desire to attract into your life what you say you want, the more likely it is, and the faster it will be, that you will attract what you want into your life. Alternatively, if you meet with disappointment, view the disappointment as a sign, message or indication that you are not yet ready to receive what you want and need to make additional adjustments in your conscious or subconscious thinking or adopt an alternative course of action.
Most important of all, express gratitude before you go to sleep, as soon as you awaken and as often as possible throughout each day for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon you!
